Review: STARLUX A350-900 Business Class (Taipei to Seattle)
May 8, 2025 · 2 min read
We flew STARLUX Airlines Business Class on their flagship A350-900 from Taipei (TPE) to Seattle (SEA) — a 10-hour journey across the North Pacific. Spoiler: the service rivaled some of the First Class experiences we've had.
Pre-Flight: Flagship Store & Galactic Lounge
Before heading to the airport, we stopped at the Starlux Flagship Store in Taipei City — a boutique, spaceship-inspired retail space with branded gear, model planes, and ticketing assistance. Right nearby is a Starlux-themed 7-Eleven with aviation decor and a massive plane on the ceiling.
At Taoyuan Airport Terminal 2, the Starlux Galactic Lounge spans two floors with free luggage lockers, shower suites (put your name down early), multiple buffet spreads, and QR-code table ordering. Standout dish: osmanthus sesame glutinous rice balls.
The Seat & Suite
The cabin has 30 seats in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout. I was in 2A, Christina in 3A. Here's what stood out:
- Screen: 24-inch 4K touchscreen — one of the sharpest in the sky. Bluetooth headphone pairing supported.
- Power: 60W USB-C, USB-A, international outlet, plus solid 15 Mbps Wi-Fi.
- Storage: Massive side compartment — easily fit a Pro Max phone, amenity kit, and water bottle.
- Bed: Fully flat at 78 inches (198 cm) with Zero-G lounging mode and a built-in seat massage (light vibration, but great for sleep).
- Pajamas: Incredibly soft — easily rivals the Lalique pajamas from our Singapore Airlines flights.
- Amenity kit by Three: skincare, eye mask, Snoopy collab sticker set, and inflatable plane.
At 5'9" the footwell fit perfectly. If you're over 6 feet or have a wider build, the footwell may feel tight.
Food & Beverage
Pre-Order Your Meal
STARLUX lets you pre-order meals 21 days to 24 hours before departure. Highly recommended — the exclusive menu items (like the Braised Short Rib by Michelin-starred Chef Kin) sell out.
- Starter: Mushroom chawanmushi + coconut crab bisque — both excellent.
- Main (Braised Short Rib): Meat was a touch tough; flavors underwhelming. 5/10.
- Dessert: Passion fruit and tea-flavored ice cream — absolutely incredible. Better than Delta's famous ice cream.
- Drinks: Sci-Fi Cosmo (gin cocktail) + Boba tea at 35,000 feet.
- Breakfast: Taiwanese congee with pork belly roll, pan-fried chive eggs, salted duck egg, and spicy tofu curd — the culinary highlight of the flight.
Final Verdict
The cabin crew — Sarah, Evelyn, Billy, and the rest of the team — made this Business Class feel like a First Class experience. The attention to detail and genuine care were exceptional.
With STARLUX now flying direct from Phoenix, this is a game-changer for Asia travel from Arizona. The longer flight time compared to West Coast departures is absolutely worth it for this level of service. For how to book these seats using points, check out our STARLUX award booking guide.
